Anesthesia residents participate in simulation training beginning their first month of clinical anesthesia training during their PGY1 year. Four, two-hour sessions introduce residents to the induction, emergence, pulmonary and hemodynamic issues of anesthetized patients. Working in small groups, each resident is in charge of at least one case and observe the other cases performed by their colleagues.

Course Objectives

1. Discuss and demonstrate induction of anesthesia.
2. Discuss and demonstrate emergence from anesthesia.
3. Discuss and demonstrate management of operative hypoxemia.
4. Discuss and demonstrate management of operative hemodynamic changes.
