  • Poster Abstract

In the realm of graduate medical education, it is the responsibility of institutions to synthesize data from various sources to assess the quality and performance of these programs over time, both at the program and institutional levels. The key aims of this initiative were to simplify the visualization and reporting of KPIs indicative of GME training program quality and efficacy for real-time reporting and create a comprehensive overview of the environment within each program, in accordance with ACGME and institutional policies. As such, the primary objectives were to 1) enhance our Accreditation Dashboard for GME leadership to easily assess current and longitudinal trends, facilitating prompt action or the sharing of best practices and 2) summarize these data for program leadership to use as a resource when completing their annual WebAds updates and APE Action Plans.

To accomplish this, we tracked numerous KPIs in the dashboard for AY 2021-2022 and 2022-2023. Programmatic and institutional performance in each domain were shared with GME leadership to assess systemic and longitudinal areas for improvement. Programmatic data were then compiled into a template addressed to the Program Director and Program Coordinator and disseminated in advance of their yearly WebADs update and APEs.

This initiative successfully provided the GME office with a way to track multiple data points for the institution and per program in one consolidated, real-time resource. Furthermore, the dashboard makes it possible to partition this data and generate annual, program-specific summaries for program leadership. This new process enables the GME office to determine special review needs and each program to create tailored action plans that are reflective of current and longitudinal performance metrics, informing on where resources could be allocated to enhance the well-being of residents/fellows, teaching faculty, and the quality of care provided to the patient populations they serve.
